The world of monitors is changing. The highlights:

We have tested and taken order a new and superior wireless monitoring system.
Sony has stopped making the CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors field that have been used for many years and are switching to LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) models only
We now offer a 17-inch Panasonic high-definition standard definition monitor LCD

CAM-WAVE Wevie wireless system with LCD monitor Marshall
This month we take delivery of a new wireless LCD monitor. We have been using Black Box wireless links with Teletest Optex LCD monitors. We have never been very happy with this combination, due to frequent break in the signal and the lack of robustness with the monitors, but had no knowledge of any system. Well, a new one is available and we are very optimistic that is a dramatic improvement ordered 15 of them. We expect delivery in late January.

The new system uses a CAM-WAVE Wevie transmitter and a receiver that transmits and receives video and audio signals using wireless LAN technology Wi-Fi system used with wireless networking equipment. In tests we have done we have found this to give a more stable and consistent signal that the RF system used in Black Box. We have had virtually no break-up while walking around with a camera and remote monitor on several occasions. On the contrary, had often break with Black boxes in the same conditions.

There is a delay of about half a second between the image transmitted and received, but we have a problem with this and not any of the most demanding customers, we asked. The ability to control sound also the same team is a huge attraction. No more feeding a separate audio director to use a radio microphone from the sound mixer or video.

We're also changing the brand of LCD monitors we've been using. Monitors we have used so far are what is available and well. But again, we never impressed. The 7-inch V-R70DP Marshall is a different story. Made in the U.S. by Marshall Electronics. It is a solid piece of game and the tests we have done has the feeling of being more reliable than other LCD monitors laptop. Also have a nice picture with sharper resolution.

Increased reliability has a price. Wevie-Marshall combination is heavier and more expensive. But these are minor inconveniences to get what we believe will be a higher and more reliable.

The transmitter is adapted to mount the battery in the back of the camcorder means that you do not have velcro or secure side of the camcorder. The battery is mounted directly on the transmitter and the powers battery from the camcorder and a transmitter. This eliminates the need for a power cord.

The director has to take the monitor with a heavy Marshall CAM-WAVE largest receiver with two antennas and a slim battery IDX Endura 7s. To monitor the sound as well, a special cable that goes to a small amplifier must be transported. This is more to go, but we are having special bags made for that is comfortable to carry this burden bigger and we are convinced that is a much better system.

Now just makes Sony LCD Monitors
If you're on Sony's website (www.sonybiz.net) and find the number of PVM CRT monitors widely used by the time I have memory is "This model is discontinued" next to each. Sony is now offering to replace LMD Series of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitors. There are several reasons for this, but high among them is the fact that LCD monitors are environmentally friendly:

the EU considers that CRT monitors hazardous waste due to its high content of lead glass
LCDs consume less than half as much power as CRT monitors
LCD monitors generate less heat and thus can help reduce air conditioning costs
LCD monitors require less components
LCD monitors last significantly longer
LCD monitors are lighter and thinner for a lower cost of storing and transporting

If you are concerned about the environment, can make a small contribution to go LCD. That sounds good to us so it will start phasing out our stock of CRT monitors gradually. Pressing concern for many cameras as light is LCD Monitors compared to CRT monitors when it comes to the purity and color quality and sharpness of the image when illumination of an interview or a scene.

Sony says "the LMD range offers exceptional image quality." We have proven time and are very happy with the image. We believe that LMD will become the new standard in the next year so we have ordered ten 8.4-inch models should be with us in late January. The models include the LMD-9050 can handle standard definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) including HD-SDI signals.

The 9050 was made for television and professional use. It can be plugged in or battery, and it consumes less power than run longer on a battery as a CRT monitor. It has a full range of inputs: analog composite, Y / C, analogue component, SD-SDI, HD SDI and Analog Component HD.

Panasonic 17-inch HD-SD LCD Monitor
Us also now offer Panasonic LCD monitor has 17-inch HD and SD-SDI inputs and the full range of SD analog inputs: composite, YC and components. If you need a large monitor in place, this is an ideal solution. Unlike CRT monitors large, it can be powered by batteries. It also produces an image excellent and is lighter, thinner and easier to carry around.

Summary
The world is changing monitors: CRT monitors are being phased out and LCD monitors are as his replacement. This has significant advantages in terms of size, weight, power consumption, flexibility and versatility. Some people still prefer the colors and the image on a CRT monitor, but the new LCD models do not produce good reference photos.

This Year's message
The biggest challenge we face is constant supply of reliable equipment. Despite our best efforts, mistakes will continue to thank God are sometimes relatively few and us crazy. To solve this problem, we created a policy of "every step, every time." It means what it says. Each time a team is preparing a group set of steps to follow to ensure that each piece of equipment is working well and that everything necessary to make the work items included. In theory, if the preparation of kits around the world follow each step every time you should be able to eliminate virtually all problems. And that's what we're drilling in the entire Procam world.
