What Does All This Mean…?

Body type: standard (not obese, nor rail thin)
Gender, age, height, weight (you know these)
BMI: Body Mass Index (estimation of your overall body picture to classify into underweight, normal, overweight, or obese)
BMR: Basal Metabolic Rate (estimation of the amount of energy you burn just being alive…should be RESTING metabolic rate)
Impedance: (measure of electrical interference the monitor is fighting)
Fat%: (estimation of fat composition as a percentage of your body weight)
Fat mass: (estimation of your body weight that is fat)
FFM: Fat Free Mass (estimation of you body weight that is either muscle or bone)
Tbw: Total Body Water (estimation of how much water is in your body)

Notice I used “estimation” frequently? That’s exactly what they are….estimations. I wouldn’t get too excited about these numbers, just use them as a starting point. If you were to use the same machine later, you could see the changes and compare the results. DEXA scanning is a more accurate (and expensive) method of determining body composition.
