Not all weight loss is good

In his quest for a leaner body, you know certainly used a bathroom scale to chronicle progress. However, it may have been doing yourself a serious injury. As you know, a scale measuring the amount of weight lost, but never tell you where they have lost weight. Therein lies the problem. When dieting, your combined weight loss could be due to the loss of fat, water loss or muscle loss. Obviously, the first is what we all want to achieve, and the last two are what we must try to avoid far as dieting. Unfortunately, many diets mode claiming rapid weight loss usually achieve this at the expense of loss water and / or muscle loss. In general, if you lose more than two pounds per week is likely to lose muscle too.

The best way monitor your progress when embarking on a new regime is to measure the percentage of Body Fat mass and lean. Lean Body Mass is its weight, not fat. Lean body mass includes bone, muscle and other tissue without fat with most of that being muscle. By measuring these two items, you will be able to determine the amount of fat you lose and if you lose muscle. The best way to measure your body fat percentage by skinfold tests. If you know a personal trainer or other fitness professional in your area may be able to take these steps for you. However, the car skinfold test is available with the use of the "Accu-Measure", which can by easily found online.

Once you have determined your percentage of body fat, you are ready to calculate the weight of fat and lean body mass. To calculate your fat weight, multiply your total weight of their body fat percentage. Do not forget to put your body fat percentage to decimal form before multiplying. Whether 11% body fat is 11 times that you've calculated your pound of fat, subtract your pounds of fat weight in total pounds, which gives your body thin.

Armed with these simple equations, you can track your weight loss much more accurately than simply using a single scale. You know exactly where the weight loss is coming from, so you can make adjustments to your caloric intake to maximize your results. For example, if you decrease your lean body mass and decreases body fat, this should tell you what needs to be much of a calorie deficit and you should increase your intake daily caloric slightly to avoid the loss of lean body mass. When you are on a calorie restricted diet, some loss of body mass lean muscle and it is therefore difficult to avoid. However, this loss of lean body mass should be limited to a few tenths of a pound per week.
